Happy New Year to all of our clients and all of our readers! Hopefully all of your holidays we happily spent with loved ones enjoying life and enjoying FOOD! Since we all know it’s true, what better way to start the year than with a Paleo Challenge!
The Challenge:
This month’s Challenge will begin on January 18th and run for 6 WEEKS until February 28th. The challenge is to see who can change their body the most from Paleo eating. The buy-in for this Challenge is $30 (serious participants only).
The Details:
- The Challenge is 6 weeks long.
- You must take 3 ‘before’ pictures: Front, Back and Side Views. Men in shorts only and Women in shorts and sports bra or bikini top. (we can do this at the facility for you if you’d like)
- You must submit a weekly food log here.
- You must take 3 ‘after’ pictures within 2 days of the challenge finishing. (same 3 profiles)
- Coaches will pick the final 5 men and 5 women who’s body composition changed the most based on pictures only.
- All challenge participants then vote on the top 10 to determine the winners.
- The pot from the buy-ins will be divided for the 2 winners (50% to male winner, 50% to female winner)
- The runner-up for men and women will receive a free WOD Log book from CrossFit Edmonton

good to be back after a week off, Happy New Year everyone
the paleo challenge looks interesting
Ill be participating “unofficially’ in this challenge, who will join me!!!????? Take this oppertunity to make a huge diffrence in your health, performance and appearance.
I’m in!
I’m in, too. Only problem is that I am at an all inclusive for one of the weeks. That will be a challange. Great Team 6 workout this am. My goal was 10 but I got 9+3 which I am still pretty happy about. Next time I will surpass my goal!
I’m in. Don’t expect to win but should be interesting.
I’d like to do this, but don’t like the idea of people seeing my pics. Can you do it based on measurements? That seems more accurate to me.
The pictures will only be seen by others if you are one of the finalists.
I concur with Yvonne. I think I would rather things be based on measurements so it is more objective rather than subjective.
What measurements?
RE: Get Primal ( The book advertised on the main page.)
I phoned these guys to place an order. I get the impression they are very motivated to move some books.
Elliot told me that if we order 10 he will sell them at the wholesale price of $13.50 each plus shipping costs of aprox $25 divided by 10 = $2.50 each ( and brokerage fees?? ) Total aprox $16 each
Regular price is $26.99 plus $13 shipping = $40 each ( no free shipping to Canada)
Needless to say a considerable saving if we order as a group.
The only wild card is the brokerage fees. I have been hit and miss on these and I haven’t got a sure fire way to beat them. If anyone has more experience I am all ears. If we got charged we would split it 10 ways so it would add to the cost.
Is anyone interested?
I agree with Yvonne, I think for a more accurate reading the photos should be taken in the nude.
Also, does anyone know where I could get some online Viagra? (Not for me for a friend of course)
I’m in!
For those that want to measure instead of pictures…..as far as I’m concerned, the pictures will be more of a win for all involved vs. numbers. It’s not as if they’re going to be on display. Wish I had done before pictures when I started paleo in August. As far as a picture not being objective….when we saw before and after pictures of some of Rob Wolfe’s clients at Nor Cal Crossfit…..the changes were dramatic, and you could very easily see the changes. Numbers are numbers, but pictures are everything.
I’m going for the challenge again to get more strict after too many xmas ‘cheats’, but would encourage everyone to do the photos. The change in your body composition will be dramatic-ask anyone else who’s done paleo, and they’ll say the same thing.
Why are my comments “awaiting moderation”!! Fascists!
Ya, weird Paul. Odd how only YOUR comments end up in moderation…
Actually Bruce’s end up in there too sometimes. Maybe you can ask him about the Viagra
hey this is a great challange…
Measurements won’t work for me…my goal is get some size not lean down but I won’t argue if that is what’s decided.
And thanks for asking Paul but I found you some “Hero tabs” for you..whoops, I mean your “friend”.
I was just thinking that some people… a friend…. might be a little self conscious with having others see these pics. I never really thought about those that want to gain mass. Most people in these challenges want to lose excess mass. I don’t know maybe it’s a girl thing.
I’ll do it, but that just means I better win some money.
Paul, please…. that would just be another appendage for you to injure while swinging a kettle bell.
I’m like you Yvonne- I dont like to show much of my body either…to be in a bra /tank…well first of all i dont have one, bikini or anything… IT so would make me embarrased especially if the pix were on display..ahhh! scars, surgeries, what a mess! What i do know is- that nobody except ourselves really cares…
The good things in this challange is that it will really give great team support and a true visual to before and after…we often feel the changes and see some changes…but before and after photo i think would be great!
Paleo for me is to keep me feeling well…from Sept to early December I felt great…
I did however lose about 5 lbs … I tried Paleo as a measure of greater wellness….and boy i was shocked each week, and then each month to how good i felt…including not one cold/illness. Back on track again now after the busy holiday season…and hoping I get to feel that way again very soon!

Probably best to have a look, see if it suits you and then have your people call my people. Maybe inquire about your catering question as well. No pressure one way or the other from me.

Here is a good website for those of you who are considering following the Pauleo diet

Does anyone have some specific paleo “snack meal” ideas that can be grabbed and taken with? 75% of the time I am having to take meals on the road and can’t really heat up stuff.Thanks.
Kelly,
good paleo snack meals or meals away from home:
First, invest in tupperware-lots of it!
Leftovers are always fantastic-get in the habit of making extra for dinner which you can use for lunch the next day. Maybe even keep a cooler in your car for anything that’s perishable, like meats.
Chicken, jerky, smokies are great (we get bison from a Meteor Lakes in Morinville-let me know if you want the contact information-they’ll deliver to St. Albert). Avoid deli meats, as they contain either gluten or icing sugar.
Any fruit-apples, bananas, mandarins, grapes-we eat mostly these right now
Veges-lots of raw choices-carrots, peppers, cucumbers, celery. You could also pack a salad with chicken, turkey or beef and just bring along dressing separately-Chad has a great dressing he makes that’s paleo friendly.
And for fat….nuts-pecans, mac nuts, walnuts, almonds-you can get some good mixed nuts at Savon, but quite a bit of salt in them, so we normally mix them with unsalted nuts to make our own mix
For me, the key to paleo has been variety-try lots of things you haven’t before. Invest in the e-paleo cookbook-we’ve put it on our website (www.synergychiropractors.com) for our patients for easy access-it’s about $50 for 2 whole cookbooks + 5 bonus books you can just download and view on your computer. We’ve printed them up and put them in a binder, and LOVE everything we’ve tried so far.
Hope that helps, Kelly!
Hey Chad-maybe we could have a posting board for everyone doing the paleo challenge to share idea and tips?
Chad-posted a comment this morning that’s still not showing-is it possibly that’s it’s still in moderation?
Otherwise, I’ll redo it-just some tips re. Kelly’s comments on paleo meals.
Thanks!
Karen,
Your comment was in moderation and I’ve released it as of now. Sometimes with long posts, specific content and words, or links, the software will automatically moderate comments until I approve them. I usually check the filter at least once a day so if it doesn’t come up just wait or feel free to send me an email.
As for the Paleo ideas and sharing between challenge members, that’s exactly what the Paleo Challenge Food Logs post is for. Once people pay the buy-in they get a password to the post. Everyone in the challenge will log their weekly eating and that means you’ll get TONS of great ideas and you can also post and share other recipes and ideas if you’d like.
Thanks Karen!! That is GREAT!!!
Is everyone posting somewhere else now?
